Project Development

Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße 1

A five-star building for Germany's first Rosewood hotel

Bayerische Hausbau Development developed Germany's first 5-star, ultra luxury Rosewood hotel behind the historical facades of Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße 1 and the Palais Neuhaus-Preysing in the Kreuzviertel district close to the city center.

The architectural design created by the Munich architectural firm Hilmer Sattler Architekten Ahlers Albrecht incorporates not only 85 rooms and 47 suites but also a conference area, a restaurant, a bar and a two-storey spa on approximately 20,000 m² of space. An open concept with multiple entrances invites both visitors from all over the world and Munich residents to visit.

Protection of a historic building at Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße 1

Bayerische Hausbau was in close contact with the regional monument protection authority and the state office for monument conservation from the very beginning.

During the construction phase, 75 tons of steel scaffolding, anchored in hundreds of tons of concrete, and approximately 500 bored piles provided support for the – at times freestanding – neo-Baroque and Rococo facades, which were preserved in their entirety.

Good to know

In spring 2019, the figures that adorn the roof at the corner of Prannerstraße and Kardinal-Faulhaber-Straße were removed by a specialist stonemason and stored for the duration of the construction phase to protect them from vibrations.
